About the Client
Our client is an innovator in next-generation wireless charging technology. As the company expanded its product line for OEMs and certified fabricators, it needed to support two very different digital audiences at once: fabricators and partners who require gated access to proprietary parts and documentation, and general visitors exploring the brand and its technology through the main corporate site. Open Flow was engaged to build a secure, scalable eCommerce solution alongside a dedicated resource hub, each integrated seamlessly with the client's existing digital ecosystem.
The Challenge
The client's product strategy created a set of requirements that a standard storefront couldn't meet. Some components could only be sold to certified fabricators with verified credentials, which meant the new store needed wholesale-style logic rather than an open catalog. That store and the resource center built alongside it also had to connect back to the client's primary marketing site, which was managed separately by another agency — adding a layer of multi-site integration most builds never have to account for. Off-the-shelf Shopify themes couldn't support the brand's complex product logic, gated access, and user validation needs, so custom functionality was required from the ground up. And fabricator documentation, training materials, and technical downloads all needed to live in a platform the client's own team could update easily, without depending on a developer for every change. The goal: a unified system where fabricators could purchase restricted components and access resources in one place, while maintaining a consistent brand experience across every domain involved.
The Solution
Shopify eCommerce Build
Open Flow built a fully custom-coded Shopify storefront with brand-matched design and a modular architecture flexible enough to grow with the product line. At its core is a gated product logic layer that restricts sensitive SKUs to verified, logged-in fabricators, backed by custom user-role management and automated approval workflows so new accounts don't require manual vetting. The catalog itself blends open and restricted products dynamically, and the store integrates with the client's main marketing site for a seamless user transition and unified analytics across properties. Checkout and browsing were optimized for both desktop and tablet, since fabricators are frequently ordering from the shop floor rather than a desk.
HubSpot CMS Resource Hub
Alongside the store, Open Flow designed and built a secure, content-rich resource center for fabricators. HubSpot login memberships gate downloads and technical documentation, while a knowledge-base-style layout with search, filtering, and tagging keeps a growing library easy to navigate. The client's team manages publishing themselves through HubSpot's drag-and-drop editor, and contact forms and support requests route directly into HubSpot CRM, giving the client full visibility into partner activity.
Integration & System Architecture
Tying it together, Open Flow implemented single sign-on across the marketing site, the Shopify store, and the HubSpot CMS, so fabricators move between them without re-authenticating. User data and form submissions sync into HubSpot in real time for lead and partner tracking, and a consistent visual language carries across every subdomain so the experience never feels like three separate systems stitched together.
Why It Worked
Custom code where it counts pushed Shopify well beyond its theme limits to meet genuinely complex requirements, while a seamless user journey lets fabricators move effortlessly between the corporate site, the store, and the resource hub. HubSpot CMS and CRM together give the client a single source of truth for partner engagement, and the modular structure built underneath it all means new products, regions, or partner tiers can be added without reworking the foundation.
